Helpful information

- Please remember to include the venue hire fee and Sunday and public holiday surcharge of 5% when calculating your costing. ALL PRICES INCLUDE GST.

- To make a booking the venue hire fee is required to secure a date for your wedding you can do this with a visa or master card or a direct transfer into the Tumbling Waters bank account.

The venue hire starts when guests arrive and ends when guests leave.

- Every wedding/function, a wedding/function co-ordinator is present to assist you throughout the wedding/function from the beginning of the wedding ceremony or function to the end.


- The gates are kept opened 30 min prior the commencement of the ceremony/function and are closed during the ceremony and reception, to maintain the privacy of the retreat.

- In the case of weddings should you burn your own CD,s the wedding co-ordinator will play the music for you to walk down the aisle. Tumbling Waters retreat CD system has speakers in the garden / deck area area.

- All guests will be directed to the area where the ceremony is about to take place about 10 mins prior the commencement of the ceremony.

- Plan A. great weather the ceremony is usually outside in the garden or deck with the signing table in the gazebo.

- Plan B. inclement weather the ceremony would take place in the glass atrium with the bride entrancing from the top double doors.

- Plan C. really bad weather the bride would entrance into the dining room, freshen up in the ladies before walking down the centre of the dining room into the glass atrium.

- No confetti please and rose petals outside only

- All cars must be parked on site with the overflow cars parked on the street.

- A master of ceremonies ( usually a family friend ) can liaise with the function co-ordinator to ensure a smooth flow to your wedding , announce speeches etc

- 8 Chairs are available during the ceremony however should you require more than 8 chairs an additional tariff of $7 per chair applies

- Should you wish to have additional time for photography you will need to extend the package.

- All Packages start 60 min after guests arrive, guests have usually travelled some distance and have not eaten and are thirsty ( water is always available ) however to ensure our high standards of service all packages need to commence 60 min after guests arrival.

- Alcohol can not be served without food.

- Should you decide to go to the beach for photography please allow a minimum of 45 mins.

- Speeches greater than 30 mins we recommend you do them in 2 separate blocks, this will ensure a continuity of our service throughout the evening.

- We recommend that all speeches are held in the atrium and a microphone and lecturn is provided.

- A good time for speeches for both a sit-down and cocktail function is after the entrée is served, however should you wish to be spontaneous than you simply need to liaise with our co-ordinator who will liaise with our chef to co-ordinate the timing with the food service.

- A good time to cut the cake is after the speeches.

- We recommended that you organize who is going to do speeches in advance and for how long.

- With the cocktail packages the dining room is set up with chairs and tables so some guests can be seated whilst others can mingle. For example if you had 60 guests we would have approximately 40 chairs and two lounges, plus outdoor chairs and tables.

- The amount of food served for the cocktail packages is designed to substitute a full meal, canapés are served every 15-20 mins.

- Sit-down Guests are seated 1.30 min into the package for gold sit down and 25 minutes for a silver sit-down. The interval between the different courses is about 30 min.

- Canapés are served every 15- 20 min with a cocktail function.

- Tumbling Waters Retreat is fully licensed; you are more than welcome to BYO however please note package prices will remain unchanged.



- The retreats decorations consist of candles in glass bowls with shells all packages include black linen and silk champagne coloured napkins.(You are more than welcome to use your own table decorations).

- A cake knife and dressed signing table is provided.

- Allow an additional hour should you wish to have your wedding ceremony onsite. Your invitations should invite guests to arrive at the property at least 20 - 30 min prior to the ceremony commencement.

- Good venues and celebrants are hard to come by and need to be booked well in advance.

- As we are in a residential area the property is not suitable for loud bands, there is always plenty of dancing at Tumbling Waters however please be advised that your choice of music must comply with our operational requirements and ambience of the property. All amplified music must be played in doors.

- Tumbling Waters Retreat is fully licensed and the bar must close 30 min prior to the completion of the function.

- Should you wish to book the accommodation at Tumbling Waters Retreat we have a minimum 2 night stay on weekends and the suites are designed for 1 couple in each suite.

- Although exceptions can be made, Tumbling Waters Retreat is not suitable for children as we are located on the edge of the escarpment and the site is dangerous. Children under the age of 12 years can be catered for; a tariff of $65 applies per child. Teenagers 13 – 17 years the same tariff applies as per the package selected, minus 20% of the package price.

- Musicians, photographers and service providers may be served food & non alcoholic beverages at an additional cost of $65 per person, however should they wish to take part in the function i.e be served as one of the guests and consume alcohol, then the full tariff will apply.

- If service providers are seated at the tables with guests for a sit-down 3 course meal then the full tariff for the package will be charged.

- Should you wish to extend your function time, an additional charge of $330 per hour or part thereof applies plus package tariff.

- Table settings at sit-down weddings are round and sit eight to ten guests.

-Should you wish to throw the garter and farewell in a circle you will need at least 15 min pending guests numbers.

- All goodbyes in atrium and not in car park

- Please ask MC to ask guests to leave quietly as we are in a residential area, no horn bimping etc as heavy penalties apply issued by Wollongong city council and this will then be passed onto function organizers.

- It is often easier if you organize in advance who will be taking the wedding / birthday presents home.

- It is your day we will do our very best to make it the wedding/ celebration of your dreams, the best advice we can give is for you to relax and enjoy.
